Condemning the Empty Souls

Now this is some good and innovative shit. Enter Skinlepsy, a São Paulo, Brazil-based band that has been around for well over 10 years, slowly but surely creating their own unique and brutal sound that is a combination of Thrash and Death Metal, spiced with healthy "F**K you all!" attitude.

Condemning the Empty Souls, Skinlepsy's debut album, runs only about 34 minutes but they have filled that time with their relentless, in-your-face and very groovy Thrash/Death Metal. Skinlepsy reminds me of many past and present groups and you can find some Slayer, some Sepultura (mainly the Chaos A.D. era), some Pestilence, some Machine Head and even hints of Krisiun on this record. The riffing, drumming, solos, etc, are all executed in a way that is captivating and addictive. Vocalist/guitarist André "Gubber" sounds like a cross between Martin van Drunen, L.G. Petrov and Max Cavalera, to make things ever better.

It's hard to dislike a record that pays homage to the roots of Thrash and Death the way this one does. It is full of the enthusiastic and energetic attitude of a band that wants to bring the world to its knees. Skinlepsy deserves your attention, so give them a listen.
