Hard to believe this is the sixth album from France's Lonewolf, as it seems it was just yesterday I was reviewing their second album Unholy Paradise and thinking they could be a great band someday if they kept at it. Well, they are not a great band, and they may never be, but Lonewolf have not changed.
Running Wild is still the touchstone here. Everything from the riff style to the Rock'n Rolfisms of vocalist Jens Borner screams Ruuuuunnniinnnng Wiiiilllld at you. Lonewolf have rock-solid playing, and they have always been tight, but they never push it. Their guitar tone has been the same for a decade, their riffs all sound kind of the same - in fact, their albums all sound kind of alike. Borner is strictly limited as a singer, and he never conjures up any real first-rate melodies or lyrics. This is the same kind of album the band has always produced: good enough while it's on, but you never remember it after, and you never need to hear it again.
