Second album from Screamer, a Swedish band who are part of that newer wave of 80s-styled metal bands like Razorwyre and Steelwing. Screamer cross a NWOBHM sound with a distinctive dash of US Metal to produce an album that sounds like it was made in 1988, which is just what they were aiming for. This kind of thing lives and dies by riffs and the enthusiasm the band can conjure up in pursuit of their music. Screamer do pretty good at this, and they have some really tasty guitar parts, but too much of this is at a kind of deathly marching pace rather than the full-on careen it should be. When Screamer keep the speed up, they do pretty good, but they are still not great. Decent.
