The Long Road South
Long live groovy fucking boredom and dullness. Seriously, I'm just trying to figure out who this five-piece Finnish Metal outfit is trying to cheat. Are they supposed to please Death Metal fans with those growling vocal parts? Fans of Thrash Metal with the occasional Thrash riff? Maybe win some Lamb of God or Machine Head fans with all those groovy sounding parts? Even if Dark Days Ahead prove to be a relatively skilled group of musicians, this stuff kisses the ass of commercial, modern Metal way too much.
Today's kids may well get some kicks out of this shit but it would be a dark day for the Metal community if Dark Days Ahead were considered the epitome of what Metal is all about. The Long Road South is nothing more than a forgettable, modern-sounding "metal" release (with the quotes and lower-case "m" intentional) that should be flushed down the sewer.
