Wow, has it really been 4 years since the last Widow album? Seems like Nightlife was released just yesterday. I have always had a soft spot for Widow, even if they have never been a first-rate band. They do their own thing, mixing classic 80's heavy metal with a kick of sleazy LA rock, and I have always liked their sound.

This time, all the things I didn't like about the last album have been removed – no harch vocals, no silly lyrics. This is just a hard-rocking, kickass album with plenty of melodic, hooky riffs and catchy vocal lines. Widow don't try any gimmicks, they just play hard and straight for the throat. Even when this band slows down, like on "In Dreams" or "Another Fallen Angel" they have the style and chops to pull it off. If you want a straight-up Heavy Metal album that takes the best bits from the NWOBHM sound and early US metal, then this is a disc to treasure.
