I've heard a lot of good things about this album, and it's certainly better than I expected, though many seem to be under the impression it's more of a hard rock release (probably due to the label; Escape Music do like their softer, girlish side). Sebastien play a very melodic brand of neo-classically tinged Power Metal that sticks often to its mid-pace formula, but there's still a lot of double bass going on, along with some sickly melodic choruses and truly memorable vocal lines. Band leader George Rain has a smooth voice that makes this a little less metal than some of the guest stars who help him out, namely Mike DeMeo, Fabio Lione, Apollo Papathanasio and even Roland Grapow and Tore Moren.
Like the recent Signum Regis album there is a lot to explore, but what we're looking at is very polished, well-presented neo-classical metal with a catchy bent. There are some great songs here such as "Dorian" and "Phoenix Rising", with opener "Musee Du Satan Rouge" being a cracker as well. There's nothing here to push it into the ‘must have' category, but Tears Of White Roses should find its way into your rotation if you liked the Signum Regis album and want more of it.
