I've been cleaning up my apartment for the last 3 hours (that'll teach me to stall on this... now scrub you idiot) and headbanging madly all along. Suffice it to say, I've had more than my prescribed daily intake of cheese while listening to Majesty's first album for Massacre Records, "Sword and Sorcery", the follow-up to their independently-produced debut "Keep it True". I like to think of Majesty as Manowar without the overblown ego. Right there that gives you a good idea of the type of music they play: Classic 80's heavy metal, mostly anthemic stuff about the glory of heavy metal - well, you get the picture. ;)
So this falls pretty much in the same line as their first album, but with a much better production. The songs are just as entertaining, nothing "deep" or whatever - just pure headbanging material, we need that from time to time, just turn up the volume and headbang without thinking about the deeper meaning of the lyrics. The playing here is even tighter than on the debut album where it was already great, and the vocals show an improvement as well, the singer obviously handling his voice in a more reassured way.
The album closer, "Metal to the Metalheads" pushes the limit of the cheese scale, want it or not I can't help but laugh or at least smile when that one is playing. Anyway, if you don't mind the kind of songs played by Majesty, you'll definitely want to check out this album, as well as their debut. Check their web site and mp3.com for samples.
