Fury is an Australian band that plays Thrash metal with some hints of Death Metal thrown in - that is, some guitar riffs definitely have a death-ish sound to them. The Thrash presented here is more of the "modern Thrash" variety that reminds me more of the likes of The Haunted than the 80's Thrash stuff - it has a little "chaotic" sound that characterizes some of the modern Thrash bands - the riffs are somewhat simpler and more of the "stop-and-go" category at times (yet another term I need to look for...) Not my thing but some people can't get enough of this stuff. The vocals are not in the traditional Thrash vein, but rather closer to hardcore-type screams, which I personally am not fond of. While the vocals are quite fitting to the music most of the time - loud and angry, in a couple of songs they sound a bit out of place, and the songs in question would probably have benefitted from a somewhat softer approach. Nothing really groundbreaking here, but overall, apart from a couple of songs that would benefit from reworked vocals, this is very well done and should please fans of the modern Thrash genre.
As usual I have to complain about a silence on the last track, something that annoys me beyond belief. To the band's credit, they didn't overdo it by having say a 20 minutes silence like some other bands, and therefore it's tolerable at less than a couple of minutes. End rant. The album then ends on a short, calm instrumental, quite a reversal from the fast, somewhat brutal songs that precede it! :)
