This is the second full-length from Canadian kvlt band Geimhre. Famous for playing with Grand Belial's Key at a notoriously controversial show in Toronto, Geimhre are a blatantly NS Black Metal band. I liked Mollachd rather well, and so I grabbed this as soon as I saw it was out.
Geimhre throw some folkish sounds in here, but mostly this is straight up raw Black Metal in the Darkthrone mode. They got a really good production this time, with a raw but clear sound, and this is an ambitious album, though it can't quite live up to the expectations it raised. I was hoping for something really memorable, and I knew this band has depth, so I listened to this very closely many times to try and lock in on it. Unfortunately, the guitar sound is too weak to make the riffs stand out, and the vocals are not charismatic enough to carry the day. This is a decent BM album, but this time I like the idea of Geimhre better than the album itself. Not bad, but not great.
