Third album from Behexen, one of the rawest Finnish BM bands out there. I thought By The Blessing Of Satan was pretty fucking wicked, and so I was keen to get this one, despite some advance reviews claiming it sucked. Behexen were never an innovative band, not pioneers by any stretch of the term, they just played good, solid old-school Black Metal, which is just what they do here.

I think if My Soul For His Glory has a failing, it's that it is not awesome, but rather just good. Behexen have a good guitar sound and they wring out the expected savage riffs, along with some slower, more melodic bits. "666" and "Cathedral of the Ultimate Void" in particular are more dynamic, switching between slower and faster, as well as more melodic passages. On first spin I thought this was kind of generic, but after a few more listens I started to get into it, and now I think it kills. Behexen offer up nothing but raw, vicious Black Metal, but they do what they do very well indeed.
