This is the third album Steel Attack have released since their 'makeover' with Enslaved. I thought that album was pretty good, but I will come right out and admit that I miss the old Steel Attack — the double-bass dragons-and-swords Steel Attack — and I don't really love their new direction.
This is a solid album of well-produced Swedish Power Metal in the same vein as other polished acts like Firewind or Dream Evil. It's well-played, and Ronny Hemlin is a good singer, but this album just isn't very interesting. There are no really catchy, memorable songs, and they all sound kind of alike. I listen to this, and when it's over I can't remember one damned thing about it. I can't really pick out anything bad about it, except for the creepy Xtian slant to the lyrics, which is fuzzy enough that it might just be accidental, but given Hemlin's background I tend to think it isn't.
This isn't really Steel Attack, as this is an entirely different lineup from the old days, and I know that name recognition is the only reason they still have the same name. This is decent album, but I don't see any compelling reason for anyone to rush out and buy it.
