Always count on the Germans to delivery some face-ripping Thrash - well, almost always anyway. "Blood of Witches" sounds like a supercharged version of mid-80s German Thrash - blazingly fast from beginning to end, and with raspy, ear-piercing vicious vocals that sound more with what you'd expect from Black/Thrash than the Thrash from that period. While some of the songs tend to get a little repetitive, not varying the tempo much for "extended" periods of time (within the confine of a song, that is), each and every song here has a little something to get you going - headbanging, air-guitaring, foot-tapping - whatever does it for you. Everything you expect from basic Thrash is here - blistering solos, speed (and then some), thunderous drumming, slaughtering riffage and a good dose of evilized heaviness. The closing track is more lighthearted than the rest, with a lot of catchy hooks but still delivers most of the insanity of the other nine tracks. Witchburner aren't inventing anything, but they deliver the goods for those who miss the Thrash onslaught of mid-80s Kreator and Sodom.
