I don't indulge in power metal as much as I used to (I'm too grim), but I needed a change of aural scenery. This is a new Swedish band and, if you're looking to lift your spirits, their debut should do the trick. This is very upbeat, anthemic, bombastic power metal. The band's sound is a blend of circa 2000 power metal and the more modern style. My first impression was that it was like Beast in Black, Freedom Call and Metalite had an offspring, and several listens later, that impression hasn't changed, though I could probably name a few more bands. It's not as pop-ish as Beast in Black, but there's some of their over-the-top sound in here. Lots of keyboards, as one might expect, maybe a little too much at times, but overall they work well. The female singer has a very powerful, yet soothing voice that makes you want to sing along and go nuts doing so. I must be up to 20 listens, if not more, and I still feel the urge to press play again once it's over.
