Despite the Greek gods vibe and band name, the shouted vocals and in-your-face riffing are sure signs of a band from Germany. Rising is the second album by Olymp, and they are trying their best to deliver some crushing heavy metal. The guitars are solid with great tone and some good leads and while the vocalist has a throaty shout, he doesn't display a ton or range or real charisma, just bellowing the lines at full force regardless of what might serve the song best. He reminds me of a less expressive Ape di Martini. The songwriting is generic, neither terrible nor great, so Rising goes by innocuously with none of the tracks standing out from the others. Olymp aren't bad but will need to step up their game if they want to be more than just an also-ran.
