Moving Target is the third album from Dragonsclaw and their first in 12 years, which kind of makes sense when you realize singer Giles Lavery also lends his voice to bands like Alcatrazz, Jack Starr and Warlord. This band is listed as power metal at Metal Archives and, while that may have been true of earlier albums (which I'm not familiar with), I can tell you that Moving Target is much more of a traditional metal effort in the vein of Hammerfall and Wolf (some of Lavery's vocal lines on tracks like "The Road Beneath Your Wheels" and "Survival" sound a lot like ones Niklas Stålvind would sing). Between Lavery's prototypical metal vocals, some satisfyingly crunchy guitar work, plenty of hooks, etc., Moving Target is an entertaining album and there aren't any songs you'll need to skip. Dragonsclaw isn't trying to reinvent the wheel, just crank out some solid, melodic heavy metal and, with Moving Target, they've done just that.
