This German band is one of five by the name of Firmament listed at Metal Archives, which was a bit surprising as it isn't the most metal-sounding name. I missed their debut, but based on their second album, For Centuries Alive, I may have to go back and check it out. On this one, the music is a blend of hard rock and heavy metal that is quite catchy with a bit of an epic vibe to go along with sci-fi lyrics. There is no shortage of rolling riffs being driven by a solid rhythm section and, while the clear vocals are on the plain side, they don't detract from the music in any way. If you are into the NWOBHM and the current bands channeling that simple, infectious sound like Haunt, High Spirits and Spell, Firmament is a band you'll want to check out.
