Along with The Chasm and Vader, God Dethroned are among my favorite Death Metal bands. The Ancient Ones is a collection of tracks from their Christhunt demo, unreleased material, live songs and also the boycotted video of the song Necromagnon (there's nothing special to the video - it was boycotted due to the band's name.)

The video track is your average Death Metal video, with some exterior and interior footage and minimal special effects. Who needs more anyway. Lots of headbanging - hehehe. The image is pretty good for a mpeg clip. Production varies a bit due to the different sources of the tracks, but is good enough. This CD contains mostly their early stuff and therefore is pretty brutal (not that the later stuff isn't...) You get treated with demo AND live versions of Cadavers and God Dethroned, it's interesting to hear the differences.

This album is not as "polished" as their three studio albums, but is definitely worth buying, although I recommend newcomers to the band to get the studio stuff first.
