I missed this band's debut, Night Stalker, last year (well, I wouldn't be surprised if I found that I have it and it slipped through the cracks), but I've been having a lot of fun listening to Rising off and on these past few weeks, and after multiple listens, it doesn't get old. Savaged is one of those bands that play old-school heavy metal that sounds like it could have been released in the '80s, but with a modern, clean production. It's fist-in-the-air, bang-your-head catchiness all around, with high-pitched vocals delivering singalong-inducing, memorable vocal lines. Some of the songs are more easy-going, not what I'd call commercial but not too far removed, whereas some are heavier and more aggressive—all hail the crunchy riffs. Lots of fun.
