Ninth album for Belenos, who had an incredible run of albums back in the early part of the century with classics like Chants de Battaille and Errances Oniriques that they have tried to equal and just can't quite manage. Despite that, the recent output from this now one-man band has continued to be good. We got a six-year break after Argoat, and I wondered if Loic had fallen into the pandemic gap, but here we are with a new album, and a beefy one at over an hour.
This is good, though this band has done better in the past. Everything here is good: the recording is good, the riffs are good, the songwriting is good. I guess I am dinging this album for not being great, but once you have reached greatness, people will always hope you are going to do it again. I don't think this one is as good as Argoat, but it is solid.
