Echoes from the Void

This is a Swedish band who sound very Swedish, playing a groovy mix of Heavy Metal and some occult rock sounds mixed in. Not a million miles removed from stuff like Blood Ceremony, but this is a lot less retro-sounding. The guitar sound is not that heavy and could have benefited from being turned the fuck up, but the leads are good. Singer Sofie-Lee Johansson has a warm, smooth tone and good delivery. She doesn't have demanding vocal lines, but she has the charisma to shine without vocal acrobatics. This is entertaining and fun while it's on, but the songwriting is not generally strong enough to stand out or stick with you long afterward.
