Aube noire

This French band plays some cold '90s-style black metal with a modern edge to it, and there's a chilling, dark atmosphere that keeps you hooked from beginning to end. It's mostly fast, with also some slower chunky, crunchy passages that crush you with sheer heaviness. There's a hint of the darkest symphonic black metal that was around in the late '90s and early 2000s, but they don't overdo it and it's a nice addition to the otherwise raging, angry black metal on offer here. Yet another band that shows that the mighty French black metal scene is alive and well.
