This is an Atmospheric Black Metal band that is a real band and not just one guy in a basement. I have seen this labeled as "dungeon synth" in places, but despite a lot of keys, this is still primarily a Black Metal album, with tremolo riffing and harsh rasps for vocals. This is obviously very influenced by Summoning, and so has a strong similarity to other bands who share the same lineage: Elffor, Dwarrowdelf, Eldamar, et cetera. So if you like this kind of thing, then you will find yourself in familiar territory. I would like if the vocals on this were more sparse, as they are mixed very upfront and are almost constant, not giving the melodies and themes room to breathe. I enjoy this kind of music the most when the songs have time to develop these big, layered soundscapes, but the ever-present yapping distracts from that, so this is less a satisfying album than it would have been otherwise.
