This is certainly different from most, if not all, Chilean black metal I've heard. I didn't dig this at all at first, largely because of the heavy use of synths. These tend to be either repetitive or downright trippy, not unlike some stuff that could be heard in the '70s or '80s, but feeling a little out of place here. After several listens that kind of grew on me, but ultimately, I think you have to be in the right mood to put this album on and enjoy it. This is big on atmosphere, both trippy and kind of soothing and maybe a little mysterious and, while many bands bank on atmosphere, to their credit Kerasfora do things their own way and stand out from the crowd. While this is mostly not "pure and true black metal," there's still a bit of that on offer and it's well executed. The slightly echoed rasps are also a great fit for the overall atmosphere. A varied, if a little weird and different, album that benefits from giving it time to grow on you.
