This is some pretty cool thrash out of Finland. It's largely based on old-school "party thrash", with clean vocals are catchy riffs and more headbang-inducing songs than a healthy neck can handle. The vocal style reminds me a bit of Testament, almost spoken but not quite, and the singer often reminds me of Chuck Billy. The album is actually quite varied for a thrash album, with the aforementioned "party thrash" vibe being predominant, but there are also some tracks that are more suspense-horror like, reminding me a bit of King Diamond as far as the atmosphere is concerned and closer to "plain old heavy metal" than to thrash. "Final Day" is one such song that shows Mutant Blast aren't just a one-trick pony. The closer is a decent cover of Iron Maiden's "Prowler." This album gets better and peels off new layers with every listen. Nicely done.
