This album sounds like a throwback to the days when Black Metal was still emerging from Death Metal with the early releases of Darkthrone or Gorgoroth, with a much chunkier and thrashier riff style and production with some meat on it. This is a one-man band with a guy who has spent a lot of time in bands like Aosoth or Order of Apollyon, so you might expect a more cerebral stripe of music here, but that is not the case. This is visceral and pugilistic, with a lot more flavoring from Celtic Frost than Blut Aus Nord. This is nothing new, but that's not a surprise, as this is an avowedly old-fashioned disc aiming for what shit was like in 1992. The riffs are really good, but I find the overall songwriting uneven, and the mood kind of all over the place. Fun, but it won't wow you.
