Scathed Gaping Misery

This band was active over twenty years ago, around the turn of the century, but they have recently reformed and released this, which is not an album, but a compilation of the two EPs they released back in the day. From the vintage, I expected a pretty primitive sound, but this is more polished than I thought, with a decent recording job for the frenetic, rather chaotic riffing on display. This isn't bad, but the songwriting is kind of all over the place, with the songs really never seeming to settle into anything. Diverting but not really engaging.
