Lancaster is a Canadian band that plays a German-sounding style of thrashy heavy metal on their second album, Hell Campaign. The gravelly vocals, the guitars spewing thick, crunchy riffs, the none-too-deep lyrics, etc. bring to mind old Sinner, Rage, and Herman Frank. It's the kind of "beer and cigarettes" music that isn't trying to be anything other than loud, fast, and head-banging and Lancaster is right on target throughout Hell Campaign. There isn't anything on the album that really stands out, though I like how they incorporated the sound effects into "Outlaw," making it my favorite track, and at an economical 31 minutes, Lancaster gets in, gets the job done, and gets out. If you're looking for some quick-hitting, hard rocking heavy metal, this one should fit the bill.
