Putrefaction of Infinite Apogee
Indonesia has sure been a hotbed for brutal death metal in recent years, so much so that I skip some of the promos because there's brutal, and there's "OK, you're overdoing the brutal, this is unlistenable." Obviously, since you're reading this, Perveration are part of the former. The vocals are squeal-ish growls that are a couple of steps below "pig squeals," so I can actually stand them. Musically, I'm reminded of a bit of Immolation if they were more brutal. Some similar guitar work and the heaviness is on par, not without reminding me of Failures for Gods. There's of course a lot of speed throughout and it starts off making you think it's all going to be like that, but the band occasionally slows down to a crawl before getting back to full speed. There's nothing surprising here; it's brutal death metal by the numbers, but devoid of some of the annoyances that such bands sometimes throw into their music to come off more outrageous or maybe just different from the crowd (or both). If you like brutal death metal in small doses like I do, this is worth checking out.
