Sacrifice

Sixth album from this prolific band, who have only existed since 2016. Atmospheric and melodic Black Metal, with more Post- in the compositions than the last time I heard them. This band used to sound like an intentional recreation of Wolves in the Throne Room, but they seem to have evolved out of that kind of pure imitation. This has a lot more melancholy and ambient sounds to it this time than on past works, and with the long, long songs, it does make the album seem more vague and shapeless. There are still things I like about this, but it has lost the organic sound and epic sweep in favor of just being long and moody.
