He... Who Suffers Knowledge

This is a long-running band in Costa Rica, but only now are they releasing a debut album. This is dense, aggressive Death/Black Metal with definite similarities to mid-period Behemoth—though not so technical as that would imply. The riffing is heavy and dense, the vocals are a hollow bellow, and there is that same kind of apocalyptic mood at work. The drumming could be better, as it is pretty standard for this kind of stuff and mixed pretty low, but I do like how that puts the focus on the guitars over the other instruments. This is not going to blow your doors off, but it is a solidly executed album.
