Deathcult of the Snake

Second album for this Italian band who sound like they are concocting their groovy Doom alchemy in a wooden shack in Louisiana or some shit. This is not mournful Doom, but rather that energetic kind you get where it crosses over with stoner music in the best way possible. The guitar sound here is fucking awesome—an overdriven, tube-amp sound full of grit and filth spewing out riffs by the fistful. The style is somewhere between Seamount and Cathedral on Carnival Bizarre. This has the same retro-styled, Hammer Movie, psychedelic sheen to it, nicely undercut with gargling vocals that sound like a swamp demon in a cage at the back of the studio. Don't skip this.
