Serpens Abyssi

This is a new band working their debut album, very much in the vein of epic, more ambitious Black Metal like Nightbringer or Bestia Arcana. Longer songs packed with a lot of occult atmosphere and more complex compositions and instrumentation. The sound is heavy and sharp, maybe a little too clean, but it lets you hear what's going on. The compositions are good, but they don't have as much distinction from one another as they might. The whole album presents more as variations on a theme, but it's still engaging for all that. A good start.
