Strange Passions

The band and album names sure didn't scream "black metal" when I first came across this EP. And it's not even keyboard-heavy symphonic black metal, but rather raw black metal—albeit with a certain polish. It's really dark and gloomy, borderline depressing without going near DSBM territory. The songs are mid to fast-paced without breaking speed records in the genre, but overall the EP comes off a little monotone, without no one song really sticking out—it's more of a "steady as she goes" type of release and it works well. Not great, but quite listenable.
