From Which Nightmares Crawl
This is a debut from a new band from Salt Lake City, which seems to have a much bigger metal scene than logic would suggest. This is drawing heavily on Euro-Death Metal styles like the expected Entombed/Carnage sound, but Sacrilegion lean harder on the more complex edge of the scene, recalling Edge of Sanity or maybe even The Chasm, mixing in New World heaviness and a bit of that South American underground murk. This has a crunchy production, but never skips out on the agreeably varied riffage or settles for simplistic pummeling. The songwriting may not be as good as it would like to be, and the songs don't have as much identity as they could, but overall this is a solid album of engaging Death Metal that presages good things for this band's future.
