Fourth and—apparently—last album from this one-man project. I have enjoyed this band's past works, all of them being moody, depressive slabs of atmospheric Black Metal. One thing I always liked on these was that the production was well done, so they didn't sound like garage or basement recordings, but this final album chose to go in a different direction.
The songwriting is not really different here, but the quality of the sound very much is. This is a much thinner, more hollow-sounding production job, with the guitars left high and trebly, and the vocals coming in as from a great distance. I can tell this was done for artistic reasons, as Nre has proved he can record well on a budget, but initially I was not sure I liked it. I still don't like it as well as the older albums, but I admit it gives this recording a much bleaker sound. I can see what the intent was, but I don't think this particular choice really pays off. I suppose this is a fitting end for this project, but I would really like to hear it done with a production that has more depth and shade to it.
