It takes some old school freaks to start a CD with that "beeeep" sound we used to hear on some cassettes. That's how Goat Horn's first album starts and it's a good indication of what's coming - old school heavy metal, a bit doom-ish on the side although, just like for their sophomore effort "Storming the Gates", I still don't consider Goat Horn to be a doom band. One thing's for sure: You want heavy? This is H-E-A-V-Y. Think 80s metal mixed with the sheer heaviness of the early Sabbath albums - an upbeat Sabbath to some extent, but not quite. :) The guitars are heavy as hell, there's no other way to put it. The vocals are a bit raspy, aggressive at times, sometimes a bit shaky (in a good-and-weird way, unbelievable as it may seem.) It could be an acquired taste for some people, however.
Just like its successor, "Voyage To Nowhere" is a must-have for any serious fan of old school heavy metal craving for some major heaviness. There's no point adding anything but "highly recommended."
