The Daemon's Strain
I remember being not that impressed with this band’s debut a few years back, though I can’t remember exactly why. When opener "Storm the Walls" kicked off, I was sure I was not going to like this one either, as the song doesn’t start well, but once it settles into its groove it is a solid stomper, and this EP kept getting better from there. Adamantis are definitely part of that resurgence of US True Metal, copping some epic stylings on this disc, with a slower, doomier vibe. "Dark Moon Goddess" is a song worthy of Sorcerer, and the closing title track is true epic-scale songwriting, clocking in at almost 13 minutes and bringing in a lot of influence from Celtic music in the vocal arrangements and the female guest vocals. It shows this band could develop in a much more grandiose, Manowar/Atlantean Kodex direction, which I would be keen to see. The Daemon’s Strain shows this band really developing.
