So many bands these days calling themselves "old school" Death Metal, but not that many of them get it right. Conjureth are a band from San Diego, of all places, and this is their debut album, and it bodes very, very well for their future.

Far from the standard Florida-styled US sound, this is a very Swedish sounding band with a kick of US technicality added to the mix. The guitar sound is pure Sunlight Studios, with the guitars amped up really nicely so this has the aggression and crunch Death Metal needs to have. The riffs are solid, the playing is tight, and the songwriting has a good range of variety without losing track of what it is doing. Vocals are a mix of guttural bellows with some rasps added to put an edge on them. This is a pummeling, crunching workout in furious, '90s-styled Death Metal that will hit the spot.
