This is the third album for Evohe, a band I have not heard from in a long time—such a long time I had actually forgotten it. Since they are a French band who play Pagan Black Metal, you would expect them to sound a lot like other French bands in that general area, like Belenos or Himinbjorg, and you would not be wrong. Starting with a base of big, melodic tremolo riffs, this band play an expansive, epic style with a lot of space and atmosphere. Here and there they break out some clean-sung choral parts that definitely remind me of Bathory as much as they were supposed to. The band does have a tendency to go on a bit too long, riding riffs farther than they really should, and so some parts of the album do get a bit repetitive. Overall, however, I find this a really enjoyable album of moody but still aggressive Black Metal.
