Beyond the Wall of Desolation
I don't see this debut getting very much attention, and that's a shame. I mean, yeah, it's on Southern Lord, who used to be home to some great stuff but lately not so much, and some people describe this band as "crossover" or "hardcore punk", which is insane, as there is nothing of that in the sound here. Maybe they are trying to market it out there? I don't know. What I do know is that this is a smoking album of Blackened Thrash with molten steel riffs and venomous vocals that reminds me of Show No Mercy, or of modern bands like Kryptos or Athor. This is all about riffs riffs riffs, with a blistering guitar sound and a furious vocal performance that still retains that unmistakable Thrash sound. This thing just kills from one end to the other.
