Mexican Death/Thrash combo Asedio has been around since 2007 and has released two full-length studio albums. Asedio's latest one carries the title El Orígen de Todos los Males, and after a few somewhat focused and concentrated listens, I can say this isn't bad. They are aggressive, in-yer-fuckin-face-brutal and even relatively melodic on occasion, but also a teeny-weeny bit average sounding, too. Every song sounds like it is from the same mold. Variety is what they need. Some of their riffs are overall good and so are the solos, while the Death Metal barks of Jorge Baez come across pretty nicely (he reminds of Mr. Benton from Deicide) but that's all, I am afraid. Asedio have good intentions but it just hasn't paid off for them on the band's second album. They do have potential so hopefully, with time, they will be able to snap a few extra necks with their future material. Time will tell. |
