I liked the band's demo quite a bit and their debut album, Blood Sabbath, sees them getting heavier and sounding more evil. Fast, thunderous, heavy-as-fuck, crushing death metal firmly rooted in the early '90s is the name of the game. The vocals give the album a dark vibe, straight from the depths of hell kind of stuff, really bringing the songs to life (death?). Things get a little thrashy and even borderline death 'n roll-ish at times, but not enough to categorize the music as such—it just makes things more interesting by catching the listener off guard every now and then. Lots of headbanging-friendly razor-sharp insane riffage that spits out dark melodies make a lot of this catchy and memorable. If you like feeling like you just got run over by a train when listening to your death metal, Blood Sabbath will do that for you, and then some. An album that gets better with every listen. |
